Fommy Product Review:
Overview: This Griffin shell case is a solid two piece design that not only offers great protection but also great convenience.
Durability: The case is made out of two molded pieces of plastic that are quite sturdy and resistant. The only piece of the plastic that might have any chance of wearing out would be the side prongs on the main piece which aren’t as large as the rest of the unit; but they would only suffer wear unless you abused them by themselves.
The case also comes with a full slide in screen protector that is a sheet of polycarbonate, it’s very resistant to scratching and will only take damage if you pinch it substantially; it shouldn’t see much wear in actual use.
Design/Functionality: The case is made out of two pieces of molded interlocking plastic that conforms extremely well to the iPhone shape. This plastic shell is than surrounded by leather that looks and feels great as well as increasing the grip you can get on that slippery device.
In addition it is extremely lightweight and not too bulky while still making all your port and buttons easily accessible. The screen protector (which is entirely optional or can be replaced with a different one) does take a bit of getting used to; it’s not more difficult to use, it just gives it a different feel.
It does came in Black or Pink, and I personally find that the former looks much more appealing and matches the device much better.
Conclusion: In my opinion, this case (especially in black) is Griffin’s finest two piece case. It doesn’t suffer any of the drawbacks of their other models like the Nu Form case while not creating any new problems.
Pros:
- Good grip.
- Comes with screen protector and cleaning cloth.
- Two piece design is easy to assemble and isn’t a pain to remove.
- Offers protection for the entire device with the exception of the buttons.
Cons:
- I have no major problems with this case. The only minor problem is that the home button does take a little bit of getting used to. The second is that if properly cleaned the optional screen protector can get tight enough to show some air pockets. Even if this occurs it’s not very noticeable during use, doesn’t affect performance and is very easy to remedy.
